The Michigan Society of Fellows is piloting a new Arts Initiative fellowship, dedicating one three-year residential position specifically for creative practitioners. Open to artists working in Creative Writing, English, or Film, Television & Media, the fellowship provides time and support for creative work and research while teaching at the University of Michigan. Fellows participate in interdisciplinary exchange across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and arts.
What selected participants may receive
Non-tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment in a participating department
Postdoctoral Scholar status in the Michigan Society of Fellows
Annual salary of $63,000
Annual $3,000 research stipend
Teaching load equivalent of one academic year spread across three years
Eligibility
Must hold an MFA or comparable terminal degree in the arts
Degree must be completed between June 1, 2024 and August 24, 2027
Applicants whose creative practice aligns with Creative Writing / English or Film, Television & Media
Must be at the beginning of an academic career
Candidates who received their terminal degree from the University of Michigan in the field of application are not eligible
