The University of Innsbruck, in cooperation with the Kontakt Collection, offers a doctoral scholarship to support a dissertation in art history, art theory, visual studies or a comparable field. The project must focus on art of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe from approximately 1960 to the present, and is expected to relate to artistic stances and themes represented in the Kontakt Collection. The scholarship funds up to 24 months of doctoral work under supervision at the Department of Art History.

Monthly stipend of 1,120 EUR for up to 24 months
Doctoral supervision by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Magdalena Nieslony; co-supervision by another qualified person is possible

Eligibility
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in art history, art theory, visual studies or a comparable field with excellent marks
Proposed doctoral project must centre on art of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe from ca. 1960 to the present
It is desired that applicants take into account artistic stances and themes represented in the Kontakt Collection

The scholarship cannot be combined with employment by the University of Innsbruck; outside employment up to 15 hours per week is permitted
Stipend is disbursed exclusively via SEPA bank transfer; recipients must provide an IBAN for a bank account in a SEPA country
No further aid or allowances are paid
Scholarship recipients must mention the scholarship in any resulting scholarly papers and indicate the University of Innsbruck as institutional affiliation
Before the first stipend is paid, the recipient must be admitted to and enrolled in the doctoral programme at the University of Innsbruck, and the dissertation project must be registered there
Pre-selected applicants will be invited to personal interviews in Innsbruck
